It had been a heavy day. The sun beat down on those below with a high temperature that would fry an egg on the side walk. The clouds that had been in the sky, threatening to let out a long thunderstorm were long gone now, leaving it humid out that didn’t help the heat. Nevertheless, many people were outside on that Sunday at high noon. Most were mothers out for groceries to feed their families, and the rest were cutthroats that felt as if it was their duty to be out to scare the said mothers.
In a now not-so dark alley (due to the sun that was high in the air now) sat a girl that looked the age of 15, as if she would have to be in school at this very moment. She had long, curly red hair that fell down to her waist as she shuffled in her position, trying to get her damned hat in a place where the people passing by would actually notice it. Of course, they had to acknowledge it as well, a feat that not many of the humans would do for a girl like her who was sitting on the street, awaiting someone to give money... and food.
She sighed and huddled into herself, leaning back on the brick wall of the building. A hot breezy brushed passed her, and yet she was still cold. It was one of the side effects of being a vampire. You could only be hot when you fed, and she hadn’t fed in a long while. Sighing, she looked over to the people passing on the side walk. Not many of them even noticed her, and she would have to wait until nightfall to attack. If they would only be dumb enough to come into the alleyway, she could probably take someone.
